About Me
Hi, I’m Tracci — owner, CEO, baker, decorator, artist, and the busy bee behind The Sugar Hive.

My love for baking began as early as I can remember—around four or five years old—standing beside my grandma, Gertie, in her kitchen. I helped her make cakes, cookies, and all kinds of sweet treats. Grandma Gertie had quite the sweet tooth, and it’s safe to say I inherited that from her.

When I was five, I wandered over to my neighbor Nancy’s house, and she welcomed me like family. Nancy took me under her wing and expanded my love for baking even further. Together we spent countless hours making breads, cookies, rolls, cakes, and beautifully decorated sugar cookies. Beyond baking, we bonded over arts and crafts, laughter, and creativity. She taught me so much during those early years, and those memories still inspire me today.

I began baking for friends and family in 2005, sharing homemade treats simply because I loved it. In January 2020, I decided to take a leap of faith and turn that passion into something more by creating The Sugar Hive – Baked Goods. Starting a baking business just as the world was entering the uncertainty of COVID-19 was daunting. With many in-person businesses and organizations closed, I wasn’t sure what the future would hold. Instead of giving up, I pivoted. I introduced DIY cookie decorating kits so families could enjoy a fun activity together at home—and they were a huge success.

That same summer, I joined a local farmers market and worked tirelessly to grow my business. I focused on building my brand, connecting with my community, and creating a reputation for quality, made-from-scratch baked goods.

The journey hasn’t always been easy, and like any small business owner, I’ve made my share of mistakes along the way. But each challenge has helped me grow.

Today, I balance my baking business with a demanding yet deeply rewarding full-time role at the animal shelter, being a mom to my amazing 8-year-old son, caring for our dog, staying active in my church, and serving on boards and engaging with various organizations in my community.

Through it all, baking remains my creative outlet and my way of bringing a little extra sweetness into people’s lives.
